Over the course of his 20+ year career, Brad Paisley has garnered over 3.9 billion on-demand streams, racked up two dozen #1 singles, three Grammy Awards, 14 Country Music Association awards, 15 Academy of Country Music awards – and been inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

But as much as Paisley is celebrated for his songwriting and singing, he’s equally renowned for his incredible guitar playing. Whether he’s racing up and down the neck on blazing instrumentals like his signature shred-fest “The Nervous Breakdown,” going head-to-head with Albert Lee and Brent Mason on “Cluster Pluck” or burning up the frets on countrified covers of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” and Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher,” the Nashville-by-way-of West-Virginia artist is continually pushing the limits of technique, tone and tempo.

SECRET AGENT MAN

In 2017, Paisley teamed up with Fender to create his first-ever signature model. The limited-edition Brad Paisley Road Worn® Telecaster® was an eye-catching instrument with plenty of country mojo – ideal for adding some Nashville flair to your arsenal. But he didn’t stop there. Paisley and Fender have done it again with the Brad Paisley Esquire – a modern take on the legendary one-pickup workhorse from the '50s. Featuring a top secret neck pickup hidden under the guitar’s pickguard, this one-of-a-kind model is unlike anything that’s come before it.

The Seymour Duncan® Custom Shop Brad Paisley Secret Agent neck pickup is paired with a Fender custom-wound ‘64 Tele single-coil at the bridge for an entirely new tonal experience while still retaining the classic Esquire look. The result is a perfect combination of warm, sweet-sounding tones — courtesy of that hidden pickup! — and the aggressive, resonant punch that’s made the Esquire an icon for decades. “It’s taking it up another level as far as twang,” Paisley says.

Paisley’s new model also features a spruce top and back with a paulownia core — an unusual core wood he likens to “some of the lightest swamp ash you can find.” A custom Enhanced “V”-shaped maple neck with a 9.5” radius fingerboard offers the ultimate in comfort and playability when ripping out those signature Paisley finger-twisting licks. “I’m biased because it’s got my name on it,” Paisley says of the Esquire, “But everyone I’ve talked to that’s played it – they’re in disbelief. These guitars have a magic to them.”

A SPARKLING SUCCESS

That magic also extends to the vintage-style hardware, which includes a three-saddle string-through Tele bridge with compensated brass barrel saddles, as well as signature appointments such as a clear pickguard emblazoned with a black and silver paisley design.

And let’s not forget the eye-popping Road Worn Black Sparkle lacquer finish. “As a West Virginian, it looks like you’ve been mining for coal with this guitar,” Paisley says with a laugh. “There’s something ‘country’ about it.”

Plus, he adds, “It sparkles under the lights. You can’t ask for more than that.”

The Brad Paisley Esquire combines the best of all worlds — vintage and modern, simple and stylish, aggressive yet smooth. “Everything about this guitar is something that Fender and I worked on to create a unique instrument,” Paisley says, adding that the Esquire “encompasses what I try to do musically. It has a retro thing, but at the same time it’s very progressive, with a new style of pickup that hasn’t been done before.”

But this special Esquire isn’t just for players like Paisley — it’s a super-versatile, eminently playable instrument designed to unlock creativity for musicians at every level, in every style. “It’s a really inspiring thing to see what other people do with it, because it’s never exactly what I would do,” Paisley says. “That’s the beauty of people adopting something you came up with and then creating something new out of that. I can’t wait to see this guitar in someone else’s hands.”
