I only know of two stock/production Polyurethane Custom Classic Telecasters in the entire country that remain for sale as new guitars from Authorized Fender Dealers.

There is this Cobalt Blue Transparent / Maple instance at Wildwood:

http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/custom_tele/cn98132/cn98132.php

And, the last time that I was in Gand Music & Sound in Northfield, IL ( http://www.gand.com/gms/location.html ) they still had a 2006 instance of Bing Cherry Transparent / Rosewood that they have had since 2006 but that remains unsold because their asking price is insane. (I can't guarantee they still have it as I have not been in there in about 4 months, but, since they had it for 3 years without selling it, they probably still do.)

These are the only two polyurethane instances (that are still "new" at auth. retailers) that I know of.

Thank you for the reply.

I was aware of the blue CC at Wildwood. In addition to what you have provided, I have found two blonde units MN, one Bing cherry MN, one 3-tone SB with RW, and one 3-tone SB with MN. All new as well at authorized dealers. I would surmise there might be more out there, but that is all I have been able to locate to date. But I only want one, so I am covered, just need to decide on which one. However, finding a few more would give a wider choice of wood grain and price options. So, the hunt is still on.

I am a bit dismayed at the lack of enthusiasm I am encountering with sales people. When I call or email about a CC and ask about the body finish, it always ends up with “I think, I believe, I dunno.” When I ask if they could please check and get back to me, nothing but the crickets chirping. Sad really. On the flip side, Fender Support has been extremely helpful. So kudos to them!

Once again, I appreciate the input.

Regards,

B

please let me know

I have checked Wildwood, and even purchased one,
but it turned out to be a C neck ... doh
Beautiful flame though

There are a couple on the bay, but have roller nut
would prefer to stay old fashioned Smile

The only two I know of are also at Wildwood:

http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/custom_strat/cz510049/cz510049.php

http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/custom_strat/cz510161/cz510161.php

I guess, from what you have said about your experience, there is the risk that they might be mislabelled and are actually Cs. But, since the serial numbers are published, you could probably verify them with Fender Consumer Support first to confirm they are indeed Vs.

Ah yes, I am thinking that when a guitar is totally stock, Fender does not store a specific specs sheet for specific instances by serial number that lists the details of that instance, but instead will just point you to the generic production specs sheet for that model. And, in this case, it is one specs sheet that lists both the C and V versions, so asking Fender for the specs here doesn't really help.

You could ask wildwood to confirm, on that red "Genine Fender" card thing that is always tied to a new Fender headstock (not sure what those are called), that the Part No. that is written on that card says "015-6200-" (V neck) and not "015-6300-" (C neck).

Actually Fender does keep really good records on the Custom Classics...usually

I've asked them to verify numerous ebay auctions that list
V necks, they have been VERY helpful
Thank You Fender

For some reason this run got a little screwy

I ask the guys at Wildwood to give me the one with
the Sharpest V, and they said they are all the same
Sweet neck though, the one I had, had wicked flame too

I bet you, then, that those eBay auctions were custom-ordered Nitro instances and not the stock/production poly instances.

But who knows.

But yes, Fender Consumer Support is awesome.

What model Strat? I'd be more than glad to keep an eye out while searching for a Tele.

While I'm here, does anyone know anything about the twisted tele pups? I wish I could find a CC close by to try out, but I'm going to have to keep pestering you guys for the answers.

BTW, Mr. Toe, you do seem to have a good grasp on where the guitars are at and the specs!! You wouldn't be an inside man incognito now, would you? Laughing

Thanks to all!!

Thanks Bill
Gonna have to sleep on the Violet

For Twisted Tele pickups, they are in a lot of
guitars besides a CC
Most of the Heavy Relic runs have them

Here is a good video, the pickups are described
really well starting at about 2:15 on the vid
well worth the watch

P.S. reliablefender on ebay is parts out a Blue CC tele right now
just added it

Lol, I wish! (but sadly I am not qualified for any of Fender's job openings, lol!) No, I am just a random guitarist, who happens to be completely Fender obsessed.

Yea, that violet is a little too wild for my taste, but different strokes for different folks. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for another and post if I find any.

Thanks for the video clip and info. I’ll try and find a twisted tele pup locally to try out. Being pups are so easy to change out; I’m not going to put a lot of weight on that as a deal killer. As previously said, what first drew me to the CC was the thicker C neck and urethane finish. Those aren’t as easy to fix!

Once again, thanks for the kind sharing of information. It is much appreciated.

You seem over qualified to me! And given the lack of enthusiasm and knowledge I’ve encountered with sales people recently, I’d say you’d be a sight for sore eyes in joining Fender’s sales force.

Found another V in blue........ http://tinyurl.com/yfgzy9o

They said they have more CC's coming in that they ordered before the discontinued date. You may want to check with them for more detailed specifics if you are interested.

If you are still interested, Sweetwater just received a black CC with RW V-neck.
