Helo all! Im new on this forum, I have just bought a brand new Strat 3 days ago hehe, its so beautiful :]

I got a problem using the tremolo though Confused

. I know when you purchase a brand new guitar it goes out of tune every time you play it, eventually the time you play with it, the faster this problem will be fixed.
The Question:

My strat does not go out of tune anymore. However, when I push the Tremolo Bar down, the strings will "tick" and go out of tune, well only for strings 1, 2(especially this string) & 3. And when I pull the tremolo bar up to its max it ticks again and goes back to its regular tuning.

How could i fix this problem? This might be the strings? Should I change them? But "Super Bullet Strings" are said to be great for the tremolo... Maybe its the way they put them? But it looks really good the way they put them, everything looks perfect on this strat. What do u think the problem is? Could any1 help me plz Smile

pencil lead/ graphite or 'nut sauce' works well

Sounds like the strings are hanging up in the nut. A little graphite should cure it.

pull out the old number two pencil and give the slots in the nut a stroke or two......i have the same exact guitar, don't have that problem, but it's really a random occurence.....oh, and it will probably happen to me as well. Lock graphite lube works well do. make sure to clean up the excess.

Sounds like it could use some TLC like a setup/intonation as well as nut sauce.

kk thx. i tried what u guys have sed... i just used graphite/pencil lead.
Still detuning though, but i guess it got slightly reduced. Maybe i'll put more when I change strings.
What strings should i get? Should i still stick with super bullets .010? or could i use ernie ball? - im more used to it. Does EB give the same pressure as SB?

it will settle in fairly quickly once you've played it normally for a day or so. I usually put a bit of pencil lead in whenever i change strings, although lately it hasn't been such an issue as it builds up in the groove, so it works fine.

DON'T use ernie ball. They are tinny, and take ages to settle in. D'darrio and fender work ace. I use 9 guage and once i've tuned them up, they're tuned up - rarely have to retune, even with whammy use...

I'll say the same thing I told somebody in a different thread. Check the adjustment of the post screws (for a two post bridge plate) or the six plate screws. If they aren't at the right height there could be some binding or slippage. The setup guide for your model talks about how to adjust the screws. Actually, for the six screw setup, screws 1 and 6 are critical and the rest can be somewhat slacked off.

I gave up using pencil lead or the ridiculously overpriced nutsauce (its nothing more than vasceline in a syringe). I use dentalfloss. The wax lubes the nut up nicely, doesnt give a unappealing grey dirty stain and it smells nice.
Works as well as anything else.

Did your MIA standard come with 10s because I thought they came with 9s? I'm not sure about a HSS though. Maybe a little nut filing is needed.
