MIDI Implementation

Alright,

I have one of the G-Dec amps and absolutely love it.

I would just love to know how to emphasize and use the MIDI software, or what that really is without reading a book.

I love the guitar, violin and piano but not text books.

Can someone give me some quick tips on how to implement this legendary and right now alienable "MIDI"

...

I would also like to know how to play these mp3 downloads on this amp.

Forum help would be much appreciated and it is nice to meet y'all

You're going to need an MP3 player to play those downloads. Get a cable that connects from your MP3 player to the "Aux In" jacks and you're good.

MIDI is more technical. There is no quick way to describe how to use this. You're going to have to do a little research. And it provides different capabilities. So not knowing what you want to do with it makes it even more difficult to describe how to use it.

Regardless, you will need a mechanism for sending MIDI files and/or MIDI data to your G-DEC. This generally means you will need a MIDI interface to your computer (typically a MIDI to USB adapter). Fender provides free utilities for converting (if necessary) MIDI files to type 0 and downloading them to your G-DEC. Editing MIDI files or transferring MIDI data in real time are other possibilities which would require some applications for your computer (most likely at some cost).

Download a codec converter (free).

Plug the two 9-pin ends into the GDEC and the USB end into your computer.

Make up a few loops or play (create) some originals, then export to GDEC.

I had thought of getting the G-DEC awhile back. It seems like great value for the money. However there's so many products out there that it's hard to decide what's best so I usually end up plugging headphones into my Zoom Pedal and playing with prerecorded drum tracks. The question is will Fender make an advanced practise, all in one box, the size of a credit card as Korg did with the PX5D? Can we squeeze the G-Dec into a little 5 X 5 box?

More and more I record on Garageband in a Macbook Pro. Fender never fails me but there is an advantage to GB in that there's amp modeling now. And I am still like a kid in a candy store when it comes to my Fender guitars.
