From late-night and daytime sets to in-studio visits and digital exclusives, Fender in Focus gathers the best of the week's performances from Fender players.
This week: CRX, James Vincent McMorrow, Dinosaur Jr. and country upstart Kane Brown.
CRX: "Broken Bones"
Nick Valensi of the Strokes has a new band called CRX, and they've been making waves with their debut album New Skin. The group recently stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden and performed the grimy single "Broken Bones" amid flashing strobe lights with Valensi playing a low-slung Telecaster.
James Vincent McMorrow: "Get Low"
Irish singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow made his U.S. television debut this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live midway through his North American tour. Wielding a Fender Jaguar, McMorrow belted out the song "Get Low," a heartfelt offering from his stunning 2016 album, We Move.
Dinosaur Jr: "Goin' Down"
As they take a break from touring in support of their latest album, Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, Dinosaur Jr. appeared on Conan to offer a ripping version of "Goin' Down." And surprisingly, frontman J Mascis was without his trusty Fender Jazzmaster, instead opting to unleash some scorching riffs on a Thinline Telecaster. Host Conan O'Brien was so impressed by the performance--which included an electric mandolin at the end--that he asked Mascis to kindly leave his guitar behind after the show.
Kane Brown: "Hometown"
Young country singer/songwriter Kane Brown rolled through Today to perform new single "Hometown," the lead track of his recently released self-titled debut album. During the program, guitarist Alex Anthony backed up Brown with his brand-new American Professional Telecaster Deluxe Shawbucker in striking Sonic Grey.
