From late-night and daytime sets to in-studio visits and digital exclusives, Fender in Focus gathers the best of the week's performances from Fender players.
This week, it's Slowdive, Lindsay Ell and Deap Vally.
Deap Vally: "Heart is an Animal”
This week, 89.3 the Current dropped another Deap Vally song from the duo’s earlier visit. This go ‘round Julie Edwards and Lindsey Troy—masterfully commanding her Fender Mustang—offer up the sludgy seduction of the track “Heart Is an Animal” from the 2016 album Femejism (Nevado Music).
Slowdive: "Sugar for the Pill”
After more than two decades apart this London-based group of shoegaze pioneers reteamed to tour and record new material for their recently released self-titled album. The band performed the ethereal “Sugar for the Pill” for NPR with guitarist/singer Neil Halstead performing some delicate finger work on a sunburst Telecaster.
Lindsay Ell: "Waiting on You”
Countrified singer/songwriter Lindsay Ell appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week to perform a rendition of her single "Waiting On You” with Cleto and Cletones, armed with a striking Fender American Professional Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker.
Fenech-Soler: "Kaleidoscope”
Brothers Ben and Ross Duffy, a.k.a. English synthpop group Fenech-Soler, set up shop in a working men’s club in East London to perform a stripped-down version of their single “Kaleidoscope” for Mahogany Sessions. Hang on for the second verse when Ross Duffy plucks some soulful lines out of his Fender Jaguar.
