From late-night and daytime sets to in-studio visits and digital exclusives, Fender in Focus gathers the best of the week's performances from Fender players.
This week, it's the legendary Pixies, Alt-J, Royal Blood and Biffy Clyro.
Pixies: "Tenement Song"
Pixies continued to support their 2016 album, Head Carrier, with a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Pulling out the track "Tenement Song" on the dimly lit stage, the alt-rock legends rocked with frontman Black Francis playing his Fender Telecaster and bassist Paz Lenchantin playing a well-worn Precision Bass.
Alt-J: “Breezeblocks”
Radio 1's 2017 Big Weekend was in full effect last week with a star-studded lineup that included Alt-J. The U.K. indie rockers played Sunday on the Where It Begins Stage, and one of the songs in their set was the wistful "Breezeblocks from 2012's An Awesome Wave. During it, you can see singer/guitarist Joe Newman slinging a sharp Tele.
Royal Blood: "Lights Out"
Royal Blood was also on the Big Weekend bill and delivered a thunderous performance of the single "Lights Out", which is on their highly anticipated sophomore album, How Did We Get So Dark? The duo put together their massive sound with Ben Thatcher on the drum kit and singer/bassist Mike Kerr on his custombuild short-scale Jazz Bass playing through a trio of Super-Sonic 22 Combos.
Biffy Clyro: “Wolves of Winter”
Fans went crazy for Scottish rock trio Biffy Clyro, who highlighted their latest album, Ellipsis, with the lead track "Wolves of Winter". And of course, frontman Simon Neil had a trusty Stratocaster slung across his bare chest, while bassist James Johnston delivered a fiery bassline on his Precision Bass.
