From late-night and daytime sets to in-studio visits and digital exclusives, Fender in Focus gathers the best of the week's performances from Fender players.
This week: the legendary Sting, Melissa Etheridge, Japandroids and country upstart Tucker Beathard.
Sting: "I Can't Stop Thinking About You"
Sting released his first rock album in 13 years in November of 2016 with 57th & 9th, and he performed its lead single "I Can't Stop Thinking About You" on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Of course, the former Police frontman and accomplished solo artist had his trusty Precision Bass keeping him company on stage to set the chugging low-end.
Melissa Etheridge: "Respect Yourself"
The great Melissa Etheridge was featured on Conan to celebrate the release of her latest album of Memphis Soul covers, Memphis Rock & Soul. Even though she had her Fender Jaguar with her, she also got some guitar help from Basic Cable Band leader Jimmy Vivino, who played a striking Starcaster.
Japandroids: "Near to the Wild Heart of Life"
Canadian rock duo Japandroids got a spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert just days after the release of their third studio album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life. With singer/guitarist Brian King wielding a Telecaster Deluxe, the guys unleashed a full-on noise-bomb on the audience, an impressive feat for only two people.
Tucker Beathard: "Momma and Jesus"
Tucker Beathard is the son of Nashville songwriter Casey Beathard, but he is forging his own path in country music, a quest that benefitted from an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. With only an EP under his belt entitled Fight Like Hell, Beathard played its second single, the rocking "Momma and Jesus."
