IN CONVERSATION WITH MIKE CAMPBELL FEATURING THE RED DOG TELECASTER

A founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of all time, Mike Campbell’s playing has defined some of the most iconic songs in rock and roll – including “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “Here Comes My Girl” and “Refugee.”

Through it all, Fender guitars have played an integral role in Campbell’s creative expression. But there’s one guitar in particular – a modified three-pickup 1972 Telecaster dubbed the “Red Dog” – that features on what is arguably The Heartbreakers’ most rebellious track.

The Stories Collection Mike Campbell Red Dog Telecaster® is our faithful recreation of that guitar – complete with a single-coil Tele pickup and pair of humbucking pickups, Bigsby tremolo and powerful onboard “Destruct” boost circuit, just like the one heard on “Refugee.”

Watch as Campbell tells the story of the Red Dog Tele – from a warehouse in Gainesville to the “Refugee” studio sessions – and plays a few of his greatest riffs.
