This week: Jimmy Eat World, the Flaming Lips, Cage the Elephant and You Me at Six.

Jimmy Eat World: “Get Right”

Jimmy Eat World appeared on Conan to perform yet another radio-ready single, “Get Right,” which comes off the band’s ninth studio album, Integrity Blues. As always, the quartet delivered pure alt-rock energy, with frontman Jim Adkins’ distinctive voice belting out a catchy chorus as he played his signature Fender JA-90 Telecaster Thinline.

The Flaming Lips: “The Castle”

Celebrating the release of their 14th studio album, Oczy Mlody, on January 13, the Flaming Lips’ stopped by the New York City studios of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The band kept their trademark psychedelic flavor performing the song “The Castle,” as frontman Wayne Coyne was highlighted in multi-colored spotlights to deliver the ethereal lyrics. Coyne was also flanked by guitarist Steven Drozd, who played his modified 1967 Jazzmaster.

Cage the Elephant: “Cold Cold Cold”

Cage the Elephant are known for putting on raucous live concerts and they did not disappoint during a recent spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert while playing the single “Cold Cold Cold,” from 2015’s Tell Me I’m Pretty. At the end of the appearance, frontman Matt Schultz climbed atop Colbert’s desk and went out into the crowd, while brother Brad Schultz—who was playing his new Fender Mustang—kissed the host square on the mouth as the program went off the air.

You Me at Six: “Swear”

English rockers You Me at Six dropped their fifth studio album, Night People, earlier this year, so of course they were welcomed into BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to showcase some of the new tunes. One of those was the single “Swear,” which featured guitarist Max Helyer on his Fender Telecaster and bassist Matt Barnes holding down the low end with his Precision Bass.
