From late-night and daytime sets to in-studio visits and digital exclusives, Fender in Focus gathers the best of the week's performances from Fender players.
This week, it's the XX, the 1975, Fall Out Boy and Antlers guitarist Peter Silberman.
The XX: "Hold On"
The XX released their third album, I See You, earlier this year, and the U.K. duo has been making the rounds supporting it with a worldwide tour and a slew of appearances on late-night television programs. While running through the West Coast, they stopped by Apogee Studios in Santa Monica, Calif., for an intimate performance for fans of local radio station KCRW. One of the songs they played was the single "On Hold", danceable, dreamy number that featured Romy Madley on her Fender Mustang and Oliver Sim playing his Precision Bass.
The 1975: "A Change of Heart"
U.K. pop merchants the 1975 also turned in an intimate performance, but this one was for San Frnacisco's KFOG. Setting up in the Levi's Lounge, frontman Matthew Healy took out his American Elite Stratocaster and was accompanied by guitarist Adam Hann (on keys) for the track "A Change of Heart" off 2016's I Like It When You Sleep, for You are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It.
Fall Out Boy: "Young and Menace"
Fall Out Boy recently released yet another stadium-sized anthem in the form of "Young and Menace", and the quartet got to perform it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. For this one, guitarist Joe Trohman played one of his signature Squier Telecaster Deluxe models, while bassist Pete Wentz had a custom-painted Precision Bass.
Peter Silberman: "Karuna"
Brooklyn indie-rock band the Antlers haven't released new music since 2014's Familiars, but frontman Peter Silberman dropped his proper solo debut record in March. Silberman got to showcased a few of the tunes for NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts while gently strumming a beautiful Starcaster, joined by former Antlers guitarist Timothy Mislock and his Stratocaster. Watch Silberman play "Karuna", "Ahimsa" and "Maya" above.
