There might not be a more beautiful song to roll along down the highway to than Fleetwood Mac’s “Never Going Back.”
Lindsey Buckingham, who wrote the iconic track off 1977’s Rumours, gets the best out of his acoustic guitar on the original recording, which features a light Travis picking technique perfect for a road trip or a campfire singalong.
But what if Buckingham was tasked to recreate “Never Going Back” with a more modern version of the acoustic guitar? Could the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer take the gorgeous melody to another level?
Buckingham tried to do just that in the new Fender Series Re-Creation, in which he used the new American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster to perform the hit single in the most honest way possible. Just him and his guitar in the studio, Buckingham allowed all the wide-ranging resonance of the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster to shine as he crooned the gorgeous vocal in a voice that still holds strong to this day.
“Even though I’ve only been with this new Jazzmaster for a short time, I can see that it would have a lot of uses in the studio,” Buckingham said about the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster.
For a guitarist as accomplished as Buckingham, the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is ideal to fit the needs of both the acoustic and electric player, with shape-shifting tone recalling the body styles and specs of several classic Fender models. Plugged in or unplugged, the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster ensured that this version of the Fleetwood Mac classic has never sounded better.
