Changing the strings on your acoustic guitar doesn't always have to occur when one is broken.
While some musicians love the sound of old strings on their acoustic guitar, a fresh batch can oftentimes work wonders in giving you a brighter tone with more chime.
It boils down to preference, which comes from experience, but regardless, it's good to know how to change your strings when you want to switch things up.
It's a good thing that Fender Manager of Content Development and Production John Dreyer has this tutorial to lead you through the process.
Dreyer recommends that you procure a string winder, string clippers and a new set of strings (of course) before you get started. And then, remove two strings at a time, taking two off and putting two new ones on to maintain tension on the neck.
And don't forget, once you have your new strings on your guitar, you must tune it up, which is easy with the free Fender Tune app, Fender's online tuner or any of Fender's digital tuners.
