Why Nile Rogers Almost Rage Quit

Legendary Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers boasts an extensive list of hit songs ranging from David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” but like all guitarists, he had to start somewhere... like learning how to tune his guitar.

In the video below, Rodgers talks about trying to learn his first song — the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life.” As he reveals, no matter how hard he tried, it would never really sound like the classic tune.

Fortunately, his mom’s boyfriend at the time helped tune the guitar and suddenly, it all came into place.

“When I first played that song and I’m looking at the Beatles songbook, I’d never had a feeling of elation like that,” he said. “I’ve been chasing that high ever since I picked this thing up.”
