For more than six decades, Fender has been the authority on tone around the world with groundbreaking guitar and amplifier innovations.

But what about a set of Bluetooth speakers? How could a wireless speaker marry Fender's tradition of sound excellence with the company's classic design?

Enter the Fender Bluetooth-equipped Monterey and Newport speakers, two models (now available in Dakota Red and Sonic Blue) that will ensure your music sounds pristine.

How? A big part of that is the pair of tone controls, with bass and treble witch-hat knobs that allow you to adjust the sound based on the room you're in or the tunes you're listening to.

Just like Fender's legendary '68 Custom amps that predated the Monterey and Newport speakers, these models will have you rocking at your best.

"These types of speakers are inspired by amps," said Fender Director of Product Managemenr Cliff Chen. "They always had the ability to adjust the sound, the tonality, so we wanted to carry that over to speakers while channeling the mentality of musicians who like to adjust their tone and give them the ability to work with the treble and bass."

According to Chen, the controls offer subtle changes to the tone, not wild modifications that could derail a music-filled party or a quiet moment blissfully streaming your favorite tracks.

"They're delicate controls," said Chen. "We believe in getting the full experience of sound from our experts' minds. The same team that designed our amps believe this is the sound that would really speak to the tastes of our core music lover. We didn't want to make it over the top, but we did want to give fans the option."

The Monterey also boasts a "shape" button at the rear of the enclosure that can equalize the sound, letting you tailor it to match your taste for more bass or more prominent vocals.

"It's another opportunity to dial in what you want," said Chen. "We wanted to give people some boost in the lower bass range and some of the mids. It's just another way to quickly access those EQs."

Of course, one can't look at the Monterey and Newport speakers without immediately recognizing the familiar logo, the silver speaker grille and amp jewel that have adorned Fender amps for ages.

"It's about the sound first, but then the look is something that calls to mind something that is 100-percent Fender," said Chen. "You want to think back to the classic amps that Fender has made over the years. This is something that you can display on your desk, in your dorm room or in your office. It's a timeless design."

And just like the '68 Custom amps before them, amazing tone, as well.
