Over the years, Disney films have gifted us with some of the most treasured songs of all time. Songs that you can sing along to. Songs that make you laugh, cry, and connect with others. Songs that you can share with your family. And songs that may be easier to learn than you think!
When you’re learning a song, half the battle is knowing the song, inside and out. It helps tremendously if you’re already familiar with the lyrics, changes, and song structure. So all those times your little one asked you to put on Frozen? That was your training for this moment. The hard part is over! Now all you have to do is learn a few chords and strumming patterns.

In this article, we’ll walk through the chords you’ll need to learn two beloved Disney songs on the ukulele. We’ll also provide links to Fender Play lessons. These lessons provide step-by-step instruction so you can start playing in minutes.
“Let It Go” from Frozen This song has seven chords and a more complex song structure, but we’ll start you off with the four common chords you’ll need to play the chorus.
“Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book Rooted in jazz, this is the most challenging of the three songs—although definitely not out of reach. Learning “Bare Necessities” will add new chords and skills to your arsenal that you’ll be happy to have. Plus, it’s so much fun to play.
Learn “Let It Go” from
“Let It Go” quickly became an anthem for young girls following the movie’s 2013 release. Frozen is a tale about finding and unapologetically being one’s true self. It also highlights the transformative and life-saving power of sisterly love. Idina Menzel gives a chill-inducing vocal performance alongside the awe-inspiring visual sequence in which Elsa builds her ice castle.
When compared with “Lava,” this song has a few additional chords, twists, and turns. It will take a bit more time to learn, but the added musical complexity only adds to the dramatic and satisfying nature of the song. It’s worth it.
To dip your toes into playing “Let It Go” from Frozen, start small. Here are the four ukulele chords used in the chorus with links to the in-app Fender Play lessons.
G Major • Index finger: 2nd fret of the C (3rd) string • Middle finger: 2nd fret of the A (1st) string • Ring finger: 3rd fret of the E (2nd) string
D Major • Index finger: 2nd fret of the C (2nd) string • Middle finger: 2nd fret of the E (4th) string • Ring finger: 2nd fret of the A (3rd) string
E Minor • Index finger: 2nd fret of the A (1st) string • Middle finger: 3rd fret of the E (2nd) string • Ring finger: 4th fret of the C (3rd) string
C Major (also featured above in “Lava”) • Ring finger on the 3rd fret of your A (1st) string
Strum all four strings when playing these chords. Play them in the order listed above and sing along to your heart’s desire.

Learn “Bare Necessities” from
The Jungle Book was released in 1967 and features the catchy, syncopated classic, “Bare Necessities.” Written by Terry Gilkyson, it was nominated for Best Original Song at the 40th Academy Awards.
Because of its roots in jazz, this song has frequent chord changes and more chord variations than the previous two songs we discussed. For example, there are several instances in which you change from a major chord (like C major) to a seventh chord (like C7). This creates tension and interest.
