MADE IN JAPAN FENDER FLAGSHIP TOKYO FIRST ANNIVERSARY URUSHI STRATOCASTER®, TSUIKOKU

Price: ¥495,000 (Tax included)

The Made in Japan Fender Flagship Tokyo First Anniversary Urushi Stratocaster®, Tsuikoku, ccommemorates the first anniversary of the opening of Fender Flagship Tokyo. This special guitar is made with Urushi lacquer, an ancient Japanese coating material to achieve an unprecedentedly deep jet-black beauty giving it a unique presence. The guitar was created in collaboration with Yuji Iwahara of Miku Urushi Kogei, one of the best lacquer painters selected to represent Nagano Prefecture in the LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT 2016, and winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 53rd National Lacquer Ware Exhibition. The “Tsuikoku” technique used to express the unique mottled pattern on the body of the guitar is a lacquer technique designated as a national traditional craft, in which “Kiso Tsuishu” lacquer is applied on a black lacquer base. It requires the most numbers of repetitive applications and requires the most skillful technique among the many lacquer painting techniques. The lacquer is applied in layers using a tool called a “tampo” and the layers of lacquer are then polished to a smooth finish to create this pattern. The guitar itself is based on a 60's Stratocaster®, with cross-wired pickups, a 6-point synchronized tremolo, and pickups and tones that are in line with Fender's legacy down to the smallest detail. In addition to the gold hardware, the gold highlights on the pickguard and the gold letters engraved on the knobs have been carefully selected. This special guitar is a fusion of the finest craftsmanship and Fender's tradition of excellence, and will be available in limited quantities.

1954 (Original Blend Whole Bean Coffee)

Price: ¥2,400 (Tax Included)

The original blend "1954", commemorating the first anniversary of Fender Flagship Tokyo and the 70th anniversary of the Stratocaster, is now available at Fender Cafe. The number represents the year in which the Stratocaster was first introduced to the world, and is developed to the theme of its achievements universally engraved in modern music history. The coffee expresses sweetness, mild acidity and great after taste, clothed in a vintage-inspired savoury aroma. The sweetness is the main ingredient, but the complex taste with gentle acidity and spicy accents are linked to the Stratocaster, which establishes its own unique sound while matching all musical genres. It is a deeper roast with a more vintage nuance than the Fender Cafe's signature coffee blend "IN TUNE". As with IN TUNE, VERVE COFFEE ROASTERS supervised the development and roasting. Country of origin: Guatemala / El Salvador (Washed)

Comment by Michiya Haruhata

"This is my memorable first signature model that was created while sharing ideas with the late John English. It is a very important guitar that has been used on many recordings and stage performances, but this has also been used for outdoor gigs in harsh conditions, so the paint has been burnished and the intensity of the sound has come out. It has a beautiful blonde finish, and over time it has developed an austere appearance, which I truly enjoy from time to time."
