Tone Master Pro Unleashed Featuring Rich Good

One lesson all musicians learn quickly about life on the road is to always expect the unexpected. On any given night during any performance, it’s as likely as not something will go wrong. Broken strings, malfunctioning gear, erratic sound systems that vary wildly from venue to venue are just a few of the many moving parts touring acts are forced to contend with on a day-to-day basis.

So when veteran guitarist Rich Good — who has been playing with the legendary British new wave pioneers the Psychedelic Furs for over a decade — was given the chance to check out the Tone Master Pro, he decided the best way to test it out was to take it out on a run of festival dates in Australia. Good explains that with festivals, “You don’t have a lot of setup time and probably no sound check time.” With those added limitations, eliminating variability and the unpredictable would be of paramount importance to any player.

For Good, the Tone Master Pro proved to be the secret weapon he needed to give his best performances every night. According to him, “It became clear to me that it was a lot more powerful than I had originally thought. I could dial in a proper tone from a myriad of amplifiers. It is just about every amp and every effect you could ever dream of.” He also realized that by bringing the Tone Master Pro out on tour, he could avoid having to travel with his amp and pedals, saying, “I just had this direct to the mixing board and my guitar and that was my entire rig.”

Good found the Tone Master Pro’s drag-and-drop touchscreen controls easy to use, which helped with organizing setlists and making song changes on the fly — especially compared to his previous setup. And for Good, that’s huge. “It is priceless to have consistency,” he says. “Every night, you walk out on stage, you know what it’s gonna be, you know how it’s gonna sound.”

“The show must go on,” Good sagely surmises. He then concludes, “The show does go on with the Tone Master Pro.”
